ARTIST INFLUENCE

EMILIADDRAWS

When it comes to the question who's your influential artist or who inspires you, I find it difficult to answer. When creating art or designs, I want it to be unique and true to my style, not copy or incorporate another artist's style into my work.  Because of that I used to constantly have an art style crisis, never being satisfied with what I come up with on my own. At one point, I decided to take a break for almost up to a year during 2021. During that time, I thought I completely lost my passion for art, until I came upon Emilia's work.

The moment I saw a TikTok video of her showing off her artwork for her AP portfolio, I instantly fell in love. Her art was something I've never seen before, and she uses a lot of mediums I would have never thought to use. A lot of her artwork contains collages, and she would sew them up like patches, which was something I found really cool. She focuses on creepy art, so a lot of eyes are involved, which may sound unsettling but I honestly could not take my eye off of it.

Emilia's work has inspired me to get back into art, but this time with a new mindset. I did not want to stick with the traditional paper and pencil, so I decided to explore different mediums, stuff. Inspired by the unique mediums Emilia uses, I experimented with sewing on paper, colored plastic sheets, etc. Her unique style inspired me to explore different styles, finding which of these best suits me. It took a while, but I found that I also enjoy making creepy and gothic art!

NOAGPHCS

On the graphic design side, I have recently came across NOAGPHCS on Tiktok. The moment I saw their work, I was immediately mesmerized by the details and style. Their work reminds me a lot on the maximalism style, which is one of my favorite graphic design styles! Their work is mainly composed of collages of photos and use of intense texture, also incorporating text into the background.

When it comes to graphic design, I love using and experimenting with various textures because I think it makes my work pop out more. But sometimes I realize that I may get carried away with the texture and ending up adding too much to the point where it does not look good. I am currently trying to work on adding less texture and NOAGPHCS' work with texture is what I aspire to achieve in the future.
